24 hours miracle.
We were plenty busy recovering from 2018 fire and the forest fire in July of 2019 only upped the anti further. Hayden once again stepped up and we loaded our excavator which we purchased in the fall of 2018 to clean up last years fire mess. Now it was floating once again across Nungesser Lake.
And once again we had mere days to get the job done. The MNR did not want us to start repairs until they approved the work permits. We were like runners on the starting blocks as we waited for the paperwork. We made certain to cover all the bases and all the environmental impact protocols. Learned a lot once again. It is still very much a work in progress but we were moving our guests and gear across the portage in less than 24 hours.
Unfortunately pushing myself that hard left me in pretty rough shape. I put it off as long as possible but by late August I was in the emergency room and being medicated to Thunder Bay for test on my heart.
This was our 24 foot pontoon boat. It was very difficult to find flat bottom pontoons. They ride up out of the water like a Jon boat. So much more efficient than round pontoons. Took me years to find a 24 footer.
All the improvements we made thru the recession. All the work and money we scratched together to keep improving our infrastructure. For some reason the fires keep attacking our infrastructure.
Another HUGE project to get our boardwalk rebuilt.
Huge project just to clean up the mess.
Really getting tired of these set backs.
