The same week that Hayden guided Dave Hanson to a 47 and 50 inch pike less than a minute drive from camp. Ron Jonash also has spent over 30 years fishing other areas of Canada, mainly Manitoba, Quebec and Ontario. He said in his email that if he could catch something over 43 inches he would be more than happy. It took him several days but he was happy to catch this beauty. 48 inches without pinching the tail would put it at about 51 inches with the tail pinched. We release all of the pike we catch so she is one of thousands that we have released and continue to populate the lake. Many lake will simply not produce pike over 50 Inches. The fish in those lakes  do not have the genetics to grow large. The fish in Nungesser definitely have the genetics to reach massive proportions so if we continue to release those huge pike the genetics will be passed along and produce more monster (ginormous, humungous gihugio) pike. It is not so much that the fish you release will be caught again because huge pike are seldom caught a second time. It is more important to release those fish to spawn again for years to come.

"We indeed did hook up with a nice Northern on the last day 48” ( 51") if pinching  the tail) and successfully released  her so that she can continue to reproduce  and matbe some else can catch her. We caught her at the head of the small  unnamed inlet up from the inlet to the small lake and up lake from  “The Wall” where the wind had pushed everything up to the end of the inlet where  there is a very narrow passage to the next inlet east."

Ontario fishing and spruce bug report - More Spruce bugs than I ever recall

For some reason we have an unusual number of Spruce Bugs around camp.
Plus they have stayed much longer than usual.
Most years they gather for about a week in early August.
This summer they are still gathering at the end of August.
Hundreds of thousands of them.
Hopefully that means something good for the fishing.
Fishing has been excellent but slowed down after the torrential downpour last weekend.

More camp Improvements - shelter for camp fish fry's

Even with the difficult economy we are continuing to make improvements.
Boats, Motors, cabin decks, larger boat house, more docks, portage walk way and ramps.
More boats for transporting guests quicker.

The past few days Rene and Hayden have been building a shelter for the fish fry station.
We cut and peeled a bunch of logs back in early June.

Rene using the "bush man's" finishing saw.

A good start, finish the roof and shingles tomorrow.

AUGUST 23-28
Saturday and Sunday
After we received nearly 3 inches of rain we spent much of the day bailing out boats.
We have auto bilges on boats but some of them couldn't keep up or the batteries ran down.
So we had a few sink but no too much considering.
Water levels rose about a foot.

Monday
it turned very cold in the low 50s even 40s with strong winds so nobody fished.
what a difference from the 95 degrees we had less than a week ago.

Tuesday
guest were back out on the lake.
I even went out with Hayden and Belinda.
weather was nice.

fishing was excellent.
Hayden caught a 48 inch pike less than a minute from camp.
caught on a 1/4 oz orange jig and shiner.
we fed half a dozen walleye to the eagles
we had good fishing reports from every group catching 50 - 100 each per day.

I stopped in to visit DB Severensen,s group on Tuesday evening and shared some info on fishing Nungesser.
Maybe it helped because they  caught a 44 and 45 inch pike.
They were very happy.
They were going to email me the pics , should be good.
not certain where they caught them or what they caught them on but I'm hoping for a full fishing report from them soon.

Wednesday
we had mixed fishing reports with some doing very well and others finding the fish biting light and spread out.
Larry and Bob said they found a spot in Lunker bay with more fish on it than they have ever seen on a depth finder, sonar unit. Larry caught a 26 to go with his 28 he caught earlier.


Thursday
all fishing reports were slow and again the fish spread out but still a few big walleye caught.
Jim Nelson was fired from his boat driving assignment so he had to catch fish and caught a 26 inch walleye.
Gary Hiller caught a 26 inch walleye and Larry Johnston caught a 26 inch walleye.

It seems all the turmoil of the storm and massive amounts of rain have severely changed the patterns.
Some groups have been finding most success in 24 feet others in 12 feet.
It seems like the fish are scattered.
I'm anxious to try the river mouths.
all the extra water flow should attract walleye and the pike who feed on them.

I'm sure everything will return to normal soon.

Dave Mason and all his brothers were up for a kind of sibling reunion and fishing trip combination.
Well they caught lots of nice fish and some bigs one of course.

EARLY JUNE 2015 ONTARIO FISHING REPORT ANGLERS KINGDOM

Deb and Hayden with a double header of giant nungesser walleye minutes from Anglers Kingdom.

Tyler Schott with a nice 29 inch walleye caught literally minutes from camp.
We definitely built Anglers Kingdom in the right spot. Most of the biggest fish of the entire year are caught within a minute boat ride of camp.

Hayden with just one more of many huge walleye we catch every week of the entire season.
Spring, summer, fall it really makes no difference when it comes to catching lots of fish and big fish.

Here is the image of the 27'' walleye we boated last week. Again, another great year of fishing. The thing that amazes me every year when we go to Nungesser, the weather doesn't affect the fishing. It can be sunny, cloudy, raining, windy, cold or hot and the FISH STILL BITE! After my 5th trip back to Angler's Kingdom I feel like I am getting to know the lake really well, but there are always different areas to try. This year our hottest spot on the lake was a place where we had never tried before and just came across it based on the depth of the fish. The walleyes were in shallow waters and when we found them, we really found them, at 35-40 fish per person per day. Thanks for another great fishing experience. My fish was caught on a 6'' jerk bait, bait fish colored off a shelf 23 feet deep coming into 12 feet. I caught a 25'' walleye about 5 minutes earlier and was thrilled to hook into this one soon after!

AUGUST 8-15 -2015 MASSIVE PIKE WEEK ANGLERS KINGDOM ONTARIO FISHING REPORT FROM NUNGESSER LAKE NORTH OF RED LAKE.

Greetings from northern Ontario. I guess this is the ontario fishing report.
It's been a busy summer and with my health limitations I haven't had a chance to put a posting on here so I figured I better get busy..
I'LL POST MORE AND TITLE THEM BY WEEK BUT FIRST LET ME JUST GET A FEW PHOTOS AND SOME INFO POSTED

Here are a few from late June just to get started.

June and July were had great weather and fishing was excellent as usual. I will post details and photos as soon as I can.

The weather cooled off a lot this week (August 22) it was actually down in the 40s today.  After all the hot weather we had It will be interesting to see what the fish are doing next.
The walleye were in 8 -12 feet during the hot spell through early august but were moving into 18-20 feet by August 18-22.
There were times in August when the fishing was outstanding. Hayden who Just turned 13 guided a group to a 50 inch pike and that the same group got a 47. Another group that week caught a 47 inch pike. so that week we had two 47 and a 50  inch pike. That week the pike were in the cabbage weeds which is unusual for Nungesser. But nobody was complaining. Two groups had been fishing northern Quebec for many years and they caught the largest pike of there lives. And more walleye than they,ve ever caught.

AUGUST 25, 2015

Hayden and I were out today right behind camp off the peninsula. we were fishing for about 20 minutes when he hooked into this beauty. She is over 48 inches and was snagged just in front of the dorsel fin. It took Hayden over 30 minutes with his walleye rig to land it. I kept the boat over top of her the whole time. We moved about a half mile before getting a glimpse of her. Quite a fight. She didn't shake her head at all and I was telling Hayden that this was either a gigantic pike or it was snagged. It was pretty exciting waiting to see what was what.

The purpose of our little outing was to see what the fish were doing.

They were right where they usually are. 14 feet on some structures 16-18 on others.

Larry and Bob caught a bunch in 22 feet over on Lemonade lake. Dennis and caught a bunch in 22-24 feet over by Lunker Bay.
