We have 8 Bald Eagle nests and one Golden Eagle nest within a one mile radius of camp. Our guests enjoy excellent viewing right from the deck of their cabin. Combined with Woodland Caribou that wander through camp and bear, moose and wolves seen around the lake makes this area a mecca for wildlife viewing.

More behind the scenes - putting boats away for winter.

We bought several new boats so we can move our guests quicker and safer so now we need to add on to our boat house.
Of course the discovery channel's alaskan bush people has nothing on us.
See how we do it "bush man style" with a bit down town Chicago high rise technique.
Just a little insight into how we "git er done" in the great north woods.

Of course every fall we have to put all the boats away and to keep them in nice shape they need to be covered. In the first few years of operation we built temporary shelters over each individual boat.
It didn't take long to realize that was a lot of wasted work each year.  So we built a permanent boat shelter/ house. Each year we learn a little something that saves some time. this fall it was moving the block from boat to boat and using our ten ton winch without having to move it - saved probably 20 minutes per boat and a lot of manual labor. In the above video Rene is using it to assemble the upright trusses

Mike and Rick were up for their annual fall GIANT pike hunt they caught this nice big walleye on a
HRT 12 inch Redhead yellow Body

Here are some of the Trophy Pike they have caught in the past few years.
The pressure is on to catch more pike over the magic 50 inch mark. Very few anglers have caught pike over 50 inches. Not many lakes produce pike over fifty inches every year. Guests of Anglers Kingdom have averaged more than 2 per year since we started. Plus 4 or 5 over 48 inches each summer.

As I was looking for Rick and Mikes pics I found a few others to share

big beautiful healthy trophy size walleye.

The weather was beautiful so we took a few hours to go fishing.
Debra caught this one within about 2 minutes of arriving .
It was caught on a 1/4 oz orange jig with a minnow in 14 feet of water at the base of a nice little rock hump over in Lemonade lake. The hump tops out at 8 feet. The water is high, actually over our docks at camp. So it is easy to drive into Lemonade. We caught several dozen in an hour and headed back for a fish fry.
This trophy size walleye was of course released.
We fished the next day in Green narrows right close to camp and caught a  bunch in 16-18 feet.

behind the scenes at Anglers Kingdom

Here are just a few of the many behind the scenes activities the make Anglers Kingdom operate smoothly.

All dedicated to providing guests with the best fishing vacation possible at the most reasonable rate we can provide.

We are still working on the new dining room / lodge.

We cleaned up the failed roof that I hired a guy to do last year. 

The first part started in 2008 was done right and will remain. 

Will get the rest done right and carry on with completion spring 2016

we built the boardwalk in 2006 but finally took some time to add a bit making it easier to turn around.

Roadside camps have the option of taking boats to town and having them worked on either in the summer or over the winter.  Remote camps like Anglers Kingdom don't have that luxury.
However we still take the time to rebuild and install new carpet on our boat floors.
Here is what they look like with the flooring removed.

We do bring in new boats as needed but it's not as simple as it looks.

Of course gas is a large item.
we haul about 5000 galllons each summer.

We,ve tried and utilize many methods.

The new water tower, big project

Water towers are not very exciting and well not really even thought about but they play an important role in the running of a small community like Anglers Kingdom.
And what we do really is like running a small small community, we have garbage pick up and recycling, we provide the infrastructure and utilities, heat, electricity, water, sewer, landscaping, marina, roads, transportation, delivery in and out, communication, phone, internet, television.
Plus we have all the social drama of a small town. And we close it all down in the fall and open it all up in the spring.
I'll try to post more of the behind the scenes work that goes into making Anglers Kingdom operate smoothly.

Our water tower is going to be a multi use facility.
we will incorporate:
at the very top above the water tank will be our solar collectors
At the base we will have a room for the  battery system and all the controllers  to provide electricity for the entire camp without any generator noise.
Of course the big water tank will mean we will have enough water in it to supply all the needs of the camp even if we can't pump water for up to a week.

who knows maybe will install a wind turbine on the top.

Considering the structure will be large, tall and have a lot of weight on it we set up a pretty significant foundation. Our entire base will be 32 by 32 to support at top floor of 12x12 which will be 32 feet above the ground.
With lots of side support provided by the structures and  roofs of basically a bunch of work sheds and places to park boats for the winter, tied in around the base making the entire base 48 x 48
So it will be strong, last a long long time  and won't fall over.

We will build a nice stair case inside kind of like a light house without the big falling area down the center.
I;m feeling that guests will enjoy climbing up and looking out over the lake, soaking some rays or reading a book. It will be a excellent view.
